And, yes, school is officially back! As boring as it may sound for the not so studious, education is key in building the proper foundation for a bright future. It is for this exact reason that FRONTROW International ensured that less privileged children in Marihatag, Surigao Del Sur, were equipped with the right tools before the school year kicked off.
An action-packed outreach program, the BALIK MARIHATAG is a full day event that takes place every four years in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the barrio’s Tree Park. This year’s event, which took place last May 7, catered to 1,500 overjoyed children and parents. You name it: brand new school supplies of good quality, school bags, umbrellas, t-shirts, toiletries and even cash prizes were bestowed by FRONTROW to all the less fortunate children present. FRONTROW made it a point that these little kids will not have a single excuse from attending school… not even the rain!
To get these valuable donations across, selected FRONTROW officers and their family members flew to the remote barrio. These representatives diligently served lunch, ice-cream, and personally prepared popcorn and cotton candy for the long queue of wide-eyed children and parents. If only you were at BALIK MARIHATAG to witness, you really would have seen and felt the love in the air! And since there isn’t a single Jollibee in their town, FRONTROW added to everyone’s delight by importing food from the national favorite… and, of course, their popular mascots. Your heart would have melted if you saw the children brimming with joy as they danced and played with their beloved Jollibee and Hetty.
“Knowing that most children in our country are deprived from proper education and their needs for school, we at FRONTROW wish to give back by somewhat contributing to their future. We hope that what we prepared for the children of Marihatag will motivate them for the coming school year and the school years to come,” stated Dr. Katrina Verzosa of FRONTROW. With a heavy dose of happiness and supplies that can match those that we see in online “back-to-school hauls”, FRONTROW truly hopes that the children of Marihatag were left inspired. And, of course, FRONTROW also looks forward to making a difference in the future of many many more children.
